It is with a heavy heart that we report the passing of actress and singer Olivia Newton-John. The beloved star, who was best known for her role as Sandy Olsen in the 1978 musical film Grease opposite John Travolta, passed away at the age of 64 after a three-year battle with breast cancer.
Travolta paid tribute to his late co-star and friend in a touching Instagram post, writing: “I am so sad that my dear friend Olivia Newton-John has passed away. She was an amazing lady and will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends at this time.” Newton-John was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992, but successfully beat the disease. However, in 2017, she revealed that her cancer had returned and spread to her bones.
In 2018, Travolta and Newton-John reunited for a special screening of Grease to celebrate the film’s 40th anniversary. The pair also starred together in the 1983 film Two of a Kind.
