Olivia Colman is an English actress. She has won an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, three BAFTA Awards, and two Critics’ Choice Television Awards. Her film career began in 2006 with supporting roles in the films Peep Show and Hot Fuzz. She went on to play lead roles in Broadchurch and The Night Manager. For her role as Queen Anne in the historical drama film The Favourite, she won the Academy Award for Best Actress, the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama, and the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role.
Colman was born on 30 May 1974 in Norwich, Norfolk, to a nurse mother and chartered surveyor father. She was educated at Gresham’s School in Holt and spent a year studying at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. She then joined the Bristol Old Vic Young Company. Colman made her stage debut in 1991, appearing in Tim Burton’s production of William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night at the Bristol Old Vic.
